$1.95 per vote is a tiny price to pay for an honest democratic election. Without it, the wealthy and the crooks can buy the election. It ensures all the voters hear all the voices, including those they don't currently agree with.

The Conservatives were ashamed of their hypocrisy and duplicity. They had to withdraw this attempted power grab.

I am proud the NDP fought this on priciple, even though it gave them a leg up on the Liberals.
